On 29 June 2023, he passed away due to a cardiac arrest. The day before his death, Sai visited his farmhouse in Karukonda, located in the Nagarkurnool district, Telangana, along with his family. Late at night, he started experiencing chest pain, and he was immediately taken to a hospital in Nagarkurnool. Later, he was transferred to Care Hospital in Hyderabad, where the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. The Hindu On his demise, the Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao , expressed his grief. Rao emphasized that Sai played a significant role in the cultural movement during the Telangana statehood agitation, and his contribution was priceless. Rao also mentioned that Sai’s performances were an integral part of his public meetings, and they were never conducted without him.
